I’ve never been to sea in a professional capacity. I spent 20 years in the Army and then worked for a further 20 years as an executive in the aviation industry. But that doesn’t mean I’ve not followed my love of ships and the sea. I lived abroad with my parents as my father was a soldier. Despite his wartime experiences on troopships, he was mad on ships and often took me down to the harbour in Singapore  whenever a liner was in port.  Three years later in 1965 we were in Aden where a new generation of ships were on the Australia service, such as the Canberra, Oriana and the Italian beauties Galileo Galilei (above) & Guglielmo Marconi. I hope to feature them all in this blog
